One person dead following crash early Sunday morning

One person is dead after a crash in the early hours of Sunday morning in Southwest Odessa.

ODESSA, Texas — June 22 Update: Police have identified the victim as 33-year-old Felipe DeJesus Leon-Molina of West Odessa. Next of kin have been notified and the investigation continues. 

Original Story:

On Jun. 21, the Odessa Police Department and the Odessa Fire Rescue responded to a call at 2:47 a.m on West Highway 80 and West Loop 338 in reference to a major crash.

Upon arrival, the investigation revealed that a 2002 Ford F-150 being operated by an unknown male, was traveling westbound in the 4000 block of West Highway 80, before veering off of the road and striking a median, turning upside down. 

The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene and there were no reports of any other injuries.

Alcohol was a possible factor in this accident. 

At this time the decedent has not been identified, but their name will be released once they are positively identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
