WARD COUNTY, Texas — A pedestrian was killed in Ward County while walking on the edge of a roadway, according to Texas DPS.
Early Saturday morning, 51-year-old Sherman Daniel Stewart was walking westbound on IH-20 near the edge of the roadway, according to a preliminary crash report.
58-year-old James Earl Evans was driving his freightliner truck with trailer, also westbound, in the right lane of IH-20.
According to Texas DPS, Stewart stepped out into the traffic lane where he was hit by Evans.
Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation and no further information is available. NewsWest 9 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
