MARTIN COUNTY, Texas — According to a preliminary crash report released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, three individuals have been reported dead after a three-vehicle crash on I-20 at 7:26 p.m. on Tuesday in Martin County.
The people who were reportedly dead are 25-year-old Victor Craven Jr., 54-year-old Julio Lopez Leal and 51-year-old Pedro Alvarez Ramirez of Midland.
According to the report, 19-year-old Maliyah Garcia, who was driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra with one passenger, was traveling eastbound in the outside lane of IH-20 alongside a 2019 Ford Coachman operated by Victor Craven Jr. that was driving in the inside lane.
While traveling eastbound, the Nissan Sentra swerved into the Ford Coachman, causing the Coachman to veer into the center median, through the cable barrier, and into westbound lanes of IH-20.
As a result, the Ford Coachman then collided with 34-year-old Miguel Chel-Sanchez, who was driving a 2017 Ford F-250, going westbound.
The Nissan Sentra also veered into the center median, striking a cable barrier and rolled over onto the car's left side, according to the report. The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The Ford F-250 was carrying two passengers. Pedro Alvarez Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene. Julio Lopez Leal was taken to the hospital, where he was also pronounced dead. The driver, Chel-Sanchez, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Craven, the driver of the Coachman, also was pronounced dead at the scene.
