ODESSA, Texas — UPDATE: TxDOT has now announced that the start time for this project will be pushed back to July 6 instead of its originally scheduled June 6 date.
Additionally, the schedule now reflects about 15 months of work instead of 18.

TxDOT announced it will soon begin the work to rehabilitate and resurface a portion of US Highway 385 in Odessa.
Work will begin on June 6 and and last for around 18 months.
The section of SH 385 that will be worked on will stretch from 42nd Street/Highway 191 to Eighth Street.
Much of the early portion of the work will be done from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to minimize impact on traffic.
From Sunday night to Thursday night, work will be done in the following sections.
- The two outside lanes from 38th Street to 42nd Street, followed by the three inside lanes in the same area.
- The two outside lanes on the north side of the intersection at University Boulevard, followed by the outside lanes on the south side of the same intersection. This will include tie-ins transitions to University Boulevard.
- The three inside lanes of the entire intersection at University Boulevard.
- The two outside lanes on the south side of the intersection at Eighth Street, followed by the outside lanes on the north side of the same intersection. This will include tie-ins to Eighth Street.
- The three inside lanes of the entire intersection at Eighth Street.
After these sections are done, the next portion of work will take place during the daytime.
These sections include:
- The two outside lanes between Eighth Street and 23rd Street, followed by work on the three inside lanes.
- he two outside lanes between 23rd Street and University Boulevard, followed by work on the three inside lanes.
- The two outside lanes between University Boulevard and 42nd Street, followed by work on the three inside lanes.
After these sections are done, there will be a final surface placed on the entire project.
TxDOT says there will also be new traffic signals installed at 31st Street, as well as pedestrian signals placed at 18th Street.
Concrete work will also work to replace curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways and ramps through the duration of the project.
Motorists are reminded to obey warning signs and watch out for workers while construction is underway.
