MIDLAND, Texas — On Feb. 29, at around 12:29 a.m., Midland Police Department responded to a crash that happened on State Highway 191, one mile west of State Highway 158.

After investigating the crash, police determined that a white 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling Westbound on 191 by a male driver, was struck from behind by a gray 2017 BMW 320I, causing the Silverado to enter between the westbound lanes of travel and the north service road

The BMW 320I, which was driven by Marissa Morales Ramos of Odessa, struck the truck, causing the passenger, Amanda Marie Ring of Elbert, Colorado, to get ejected from the vehicle.

Ring was pronounced deceased at the scene.

After further investigation, police determined that speed and intoxication were contributing factors to the crash.

Morales was arrested and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon.

The next of kin of Amanda Marie Ring has been notified.
