DALLAS — Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has partnered with German-based airline Lufthansa for a new ad campaign highlighting new features to its business class.
In the ad, Nowitzki, who is 7 feet tall, can be seen sleeping in the 7.20-foot-long bed of the new Allegris Business Class.
"Lufthansa Allegris offers a completely new traveling experience on long-haul flights that is unrivaled on the market due to the variety of seats," the airline said in a press release.
All travel classes, from Economy to Premium Economy, Business and First Class, will have new cabin interiors and new seats, the airline said. For example, in Business Class, passengers can choose between five different seat options, including a suite with doors, a personal wardrobe and a small minibar.
Also, all seats in First and Business Class have heating and cooling systems so that travelers can flexibly adjust the temperature to their own comfort level.
Here is a look at the new ad campaign, which started showing in the United States on Tuesday and will start to run internationally in the coming months:
"Strong roots in Germany, as well as all over the world - that applies to both Dirk Nowitzki and Lufthansa. Dirk is an icon and stands for strong values, charisma and high quality in everything he tackles. This makes him the perfect partner for us, and we are delighted to have him on board for our Allegris campaign," said Carsten Hoffmann, Vice President Lufthansa Brand Experience.
The Lufthansa partnership is not Nowitzki's only flight into the airline space, either. In August 2023, DFW Airport opened a Dirk Nowitzki-themed bar and restaurant with an international variety of foods, including some German-inspired dishes.
Nowitzki came to Dallas in the 1998 NBA Draft and spent his entire 21-year career with the Mavericks and had his jersey numbers for both the Mavs and the German national team retired. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023.
