ALPINE, Texas — The Texas Travel Awards have awarded The Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, one of the best museums in a small/medium sized market.
The museum has recently doubled in size with a new wing, boasting enhanced galleries, event spaces and new entrances.
The museum showcases well-regarded exhibits like "Big Bend Legacy," alongside a permanent collection and visiting exhibitions. Some of these include unique resources like the "Trappings of Texas" and the Yana and Marty Davis Map Collection that attract researchers and enthusiasts.
The museum has also been recognized as a Top Ten Western Museum by True West magazine and awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities grant.
The Texas Travel Awards also gave an award to the Sul Ross State University Rodeo for "Under the Radar Activity | Small/Mid Market."
