Texas Transportation Commission approves Unified Transportation Program that will help Midland-Odessa projects

Included in the approved program is a record-setting $104.17 billion investment package for the statewide transportation system for the period 2025-2034.

The Texas Transportation Commission approved its Unified Transportation Program (UTP) on Aug. 22 that will help authorize projects in the Midland-Odessa area, according to a Permian Basin Metropolitan Planning Organization (PBMPO) news release.

The plans include a record-setting $104.17 billion investment package for the statewide transportation system between 2025 to 2034.

The new additions to the authorized projects within the PBMPO area, consisting of Midland and Odessa, are as follows:

  •  a new interchange at E. Loop 338 and 87th St. -  $35 million
  •  widening of SH 158 from Wadley to Briarwood (5-lanes) - $6.5 million
  •  partial funding for a new interchange on SH 191 at CR 1250 - $16 million
  •  operational improvements on Loop 250 between Midland Dr. and Midkiff - $5 million

According to the release, the PBMPO is preparing its 25-year long plan which includes listed projects in the state's 10-year UTP and beyond.
