Earth is expected to have a Mini Moon named Asteroid 2024 PT5 till Late November.

Asteroids from the Earth pass by all the time but we are expecting a friendly visitor staying around for the next couple months.

Earth is expected to have another friend in our belt joining the moon as a mini moon for the next couple months. It is expected to take a horseshoe shape according to article discussion linked below from a research article. This "mini moon is expected to begin its path on September 29th and end its orbit on November 29th with exactly 56.6 days of orbit around earth.  Visibility won't be possible to our eyes but if you have a powerful telescope, you may be lucky to sneak a peek even with its dimness in color while it makes its orbit. PT5 is expected to be the size of a bus while it makes it orbit which makes us appreciate our Earths Gravitational Pull just enough to keep the moon company for the next couple months.

PT5 is from another Asteroid Belt that orbits in a earth moon like orbit around the Sun. PT5 was first observed in August 7th by the Asteroid Terrestrial - Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) when it was indicated when this bus sized Asteroid will make its path around the Earth. There are over 90million Asteroids around in the Arjuna Asteroid Belt in which this isn't the first time we have had an incident like this where we have a "mini" moon with the most recent in 2022 called the NX1 asteroid which is expected to return in 2051.

PT5 is going to make a quick trip hopefully memorable to those who could possibly have a sneak glance with who has a telescope powerful enough to do so. It will orbit in a different orbit than our Moon, but it will be out by late November with its return back in 2055.
