If you do not have solar eclipse glasses, this is a fun DIY Solar Eclipse project you can create

You may already have these items at home.

To create your own DIY Solar Eclipse viewer, you will need:

1. A cardboard box: You can use either a shoe box (like the one used in the explainer video) or an empty cereal box.

2. A white sheet of paper that will be able to cover one end of your box.

3. A pencil or pen

4. Scissors

5. Tape

6. Aluminum foil.

Now that you have all of your supplies, you can now begin to create your DIY Solar Eclipse Viewer. (TIP - Use the video for reference while creating your viewer.)

1. Cut out two small holes on one side of the box.

2. Add the tape to the piece of foil (TIP - The piece of foil should be measured to cover up one of the holes you cut in step 1).

3. Attach the piece of foil to the box and cover one of the holes you cut out.

4. With your pencil or pen, poke a small hole into the foil.

5. Add tape to your white sheet of paper. Tape it to the opposite end of your box, where the holes are cut out.

6. Add your lid to your shoebox. If you are using a cereal box or cardboard box, you will want to seal any open ends with tape.

Now that you have to put together your DIY Solar Eclipse Viewer it is ready to be used. This is how you use your viewer.

1. You will want to turn your back to the sun and look through the hole without the foil.

2. The sun's light will pass through the hole in the foil to the back of the box where your white sheet of paper is taped.

3. During the eclipse, you will be able to safely watch the event unfold as the moon's shadow begins to pass in front of the sun.
