IN COMING DAYS: A slow-moving upper-level trough over the Desert Southwest will influence the region’s weather through Sunday, with rain chances returning and southwesterly flow persisting. A second trough early next week may bring even colder air, though details are uncertain. A cold front arriving Wednesday night will drop Thursday morning lows into the 30s and 40s, with afternoon highs in the 50s and 60s near the border. Slight rain chances will develop Thursday in southeastern New Mexico, the mountains, and the Upper Trans Pecos. Rain spreads overnight into Friday, with broader chances and light totals expected. Cold air will peak Friday, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. A warming trend begins Saturday, with highs in the 50s, reaching the 60s and 70s by Sunday and Monday ahead of the next system.
