HOBBS, N.M. — A five-year-old child was hit by a stray bullet early Wednesday morning in Hobbs, according to the Hobbs Police Department.
At about 12:52 a.m., HPD was called to the Washington Place Apartments located on the 1400 block of East Marland St. in reference to shots fired. Officers found the front of an apartment had been shot several times.
An investigation revealed that a five-year-old child in the apartment had been hit by one of the bullets while they were sleeping.
The child was taken to Hobbs Covenant Hospital and later flown to a nearby hospital for more treatment. The child is in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.
