Affidavit details what was found during Midland hazmat search

Conrad Jay Patterson was arrested Thursday for possession of child pornography, controlled substance, prohibited weapons and components of explosives.

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — On Thursday, Conrad Jay Patterson, 41, was arrested during a hazmat search in Midland.

In the affidavit released by Midland County to NewsWest 9, it details what led to his arrest.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Criminal Investigations Division and Special Agent (SA) received downloaded videos of child pornography from the IP address of an unknown suspects' device from a Collin County Sheriff's Office deputy.

It was reported that the suspect actively downloaded files of child pornography since August of 2023. An administrative subpoena tracked the IP address to Patterson.

On Thursday, DPS and SA's performed a search warrant at the 100 block of Cowden Avenue.

Officials located a modified short barrel shotgun, around a half to one ounce of Psilocybin mushrooms and components of explosive making material.

During an interview, Patterson admitted to downloading, viewing and participating in personal pleasure to child pornography.

Patterson was then transported to the Midland County Jail to be booked.

He was charged with possession or promotion of child pornography, possession of controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon and components of explosives.
