Hobbs homicide fugitive, on the run for months, arrested in Chaves County, New Mexico

According to the Chaves County undersheriff, Alexis Saenz refused to exit and barricaded herself inside a residence. After deputies breached, she was arrested.

CHAVES COUNTY, N.M. — A Hobbs vehicular homicide fugitive, who has been on the run for multiple months, was found and arrested in Chaves County, New Mexico on Monday, according to the Chaves County Undersheriff Charles Yslas.

On Monday, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Chaves County Sheriff's Office deputies received information that a fugitive, wanted on an outstanding warrant for "failure to appear on charges of vehicular homicide," was hiding in Chaves County.

Yslas said throughout an investigation, a sheriff's lieutenant located the fugitive, identified as Alexis Saenz, at a residence in the 5200 block of West Pinelodge.

At the time, Saenz refused to exit and barricaded herself inside a residence.

Once deputies obtained a search warrant, they breached the residence, located Saenz and arrested her.

Yslas said Saenz was taken to the sheriff's office where she was processed.

She now sits in the Chaves County Detention Center.

Since her warrant is out of Hobbs, no word on if she will be extradited to the Lea County Detention Center.
