Midland County deputies have charged a man for stealing 175 barrels of oil

52-year-old Azael Camacho was charged with theft of petroleum product more than $10,000 but less than $100,000.

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly stealing about 175 barrels of crude oil, Midland County Sheriff's Office says.

On Sunday, MCSO was called to FM 1213 and ECR 130 in response to oil theft.

According to the release, deputies were told that an unauthorized tractor truck hauling a water tanker went into an oilfield and was taking crude oil from a tank battery.

Fifty-two-year-old Azael Camacho was identified as the suspected driver and was arrested after a traffic stop.

Through investigation, Camacho was found to have stolen about 175 barrels of crude oil.

Camacho was arrested and booked into Midland County Central Detention Center. He was charged with theft of petroleum product more than $10,000 but less than $100,000.
