The suspect that was brought into custody involving the Sundance Creek apartment hostage situation has been identified as 39-year-old Christian Armani Milan, according to the City of Midland. An arrest affidavit obtained by NewsWest 9 released more details leading up to the hostage situation.

According to the affidavit, on Wednesday, March 13, at 10:30 p.m., Milan called police saying that if police showed up, he was going to kill "her".

Seven minutes earlier, Milan sent threatening messages like "say goodbye to your friends" and "this is the last time you're going to talk to anyone again". Milan also stated that he "is not afraid of suicide" and "will blow both their brains out."

At 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the Midland Police Department received a call from a "victim" claiming that Milan was going to kill her.

Around 11:09 p.m. Wednesday, MPD responded to the Sundance Creek apartments to investigate an assault that occurred around the same time.

According to the arrest affidavit, friends of the victims received photos of the victim tied up, naked, with a shaved head. MPD says she appeared to have been assaulted.

A SWAT Team and other special operations were deployed to Building 8 of the Sundance Creek apartments, where negotiations with Milan were ongoing, but Milan was not surrendering.

According to the affidavit, police said the apartment was barricaded and two other unidentified subjects, a nine-year-old child and her mother, who was the assault victim, were being held hostage.

Milan reported to police that he had guns and threatened to kill everyone in the house if the police entered his residence.

The hostage situation lasted over 24 hours.

On Friday morning, the hostage situation came to a close. Police learned that Milan was sleeping, and they took the initiative of going in and were able to arrest Milan.

According to the Midland County website, Milan has been charged with three counts of aggravated kidnapping sexual abuse, one count of aggravated sexual assault and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Milan's bond has been currently set at $1 million for each aggravated kidnapping sexual abuse charge.

Both hostages were identified as Milan's alleged girlfriend and the alleged girlfriend's nine-year-old daughter, according to MPD Deputy Chief Greg Chatwell.

The City of Midland released a statement Friday afternoon praising the efforts of all law enforcement involved in the hostage situation:

"The Midland Police Department is thankful for the Department of Public Safety, the Midland Fire Department, the Odessa Police Department, and the Midland County Sheriff’s Office. From the beginning of the incident, Midland PD as well as Odessa PD Negotiating teams were engaged.  Working toward the end were negotiating teams from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Hostage Rescue Team. It took hours of constant work, professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration to make this mission a success.

The City of Midland worked in conjunction with Midland County Emergency Management and the American Red Cross, as well as others in the community to make sure those displaced temporarily during the standoff/hostage episode had accommodations, including a place to sleep, as long as the situation continued." - City of Midland
