Teen in Odessa indicted for murder after selling fentanyl pills to another teen

Back in December, 17-year-old Avian Daniel Sanchez sold fentanyl pills to 18-year-old Ryan Mojica. Mojica later died and Sanchez was charged with murder.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — 17-year-old Avian Daniel Sanchez, who was charged with murder in December for selling fentanyl pills to 18-year-old Ryan Mojica, who later died, was indicted for the murder charge on Feb. 26, according to Ector County court records.

Back on Dec. 7, the Ector County Sheriff's Office responded to an ambulance run where Mojica was taken to Medical Center Hospital for a possible overdose. Mojica then later died.

Through an investigation by ECSO's Criminal Investigations Division, they found out that Mojica purchased pills from Sanchez. Sanchez later admitted that he sold the pills to Mojica.

According to Ector County court records, here are the currently set conferences following Sanchez's indictment as of March 12:

-- first pre-trial conference: April 16, 2024

-- plea conference: May 9, 2024

-- final pre-trial conference: May 23, 2024

All conferences are subject to change depending on circumstances.
