MIDLAND, Texas — Two men have been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a "drive-by shooting" in Midland that killed 22-year-old Savanna Callaway, according to a Midland arrest affidavit.
The affidavit states that surveillance footage determined the suspected vehicle, a black 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, is where the gunshots came from.
The vehicle was located, and a search warrant was executed, which led to the arrest of 18-year-old Ivan Galindo and 17-year-old Joe Daniel Gutierrez.
During the search warrant, a "spent firearm casing" was found inside the truck which matched the caliber of casing found at the crime scene, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit also reported that during police interviews with Galindo and Gutierrez, they admitted to being present in the vehicle when the shooting occurred.
Galindo also admitted to driving the Silverado as Gutierrez and a third unidentified suspect opened fire towards a man who they said they had problems with, according to the affidavit.
That is when the stray bullets killed Callaway in a parked vehicle, who was right next to the man they were trying to shoot at, according to the arrest affidavit.
Both Galindo and Gutierrez have been booked on a $1 million bond.
