ODESSA, Texas — NewsWest 9 has reached out to Odessa Mayor-elect Cal Hendrick for comment on the recent developments within the City of Odessa that have occurred during the week of Nov. 11.

On Nov. 12, Odessa Equipment Services Director Chris Adams was fired for violating a city policy by using "unauthorized city funds."

Then, on Friday, Nov. 15, City of Odessa's Deputy Director of Communications, Patricia Perry, told the media that Odessa's Parks and Recreation Director Max Reyes was placed on administrative leave. Perry said Reyes' case has been sent to the district attorney's office for "Judicial Review."

In light of these two cases, Mayor-elect Hendrick sent the below statement to NewsWest 9:

"First, I am deeply troubled by the allegations that have recently been made against both Mr. Reyes and other City employees which involved alleged criminal misconduct. If any criminal activities were reported to HR, the employee in question should have been suspended immediately, and local law enforcement should have been notified.

If any criminal allegation are made against any city employee, we will immediately notify the DA and the proper authorities for a full investigation." - Cal Hendrick, mayor-elect of Odessa
