ANDREWS COUNTY, Texas — Andrews County has appointed a new interim County Judge following the death of former Judge Charlie Falcon, according to Andrews County.
During the Andrews Commissioners Court meeting Friday, former Sheriff Sam Jones was appointed after an executive session where the court discussed possible interim appointments.
A special meeting will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. where Jones will take the oath of office. This meeting will be open to the public.
Jones retired as Sheriff of Andrews in 2015 after taking office in 2001. He had been working for the County since 1982.
According to Andrews County, there will be a special election during the general election for the residents of Andrews to choose who finishes the remainder of Falcon’s term. Jones will fill the position until the election takes place.
