Teen hit by car in Odessa Thursday morning; taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

According to OPD, a 17-year-old boy was trying to cross a crosswalk when a car hit him.

ODESSA, Texas — A 17-year-old was hit by a car and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday morning, Odessa Police Department said.

At about 8:14 a.m., OPD responded to 52nd and Dawn in reference to a car-pedestrian crash.

It was revealed that a car driven by a 16-year-old girl was driving southbound on Dawn. The girl tried to turn eastbound onto 52nd St. when she hit the 17-year-old boy. OPD said the boy was trying to walk southbound on the crosswalk.

The boy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The girl was cited for failure to yield the right of way to pedestrian at a control sign.
