American Legion Post 19 hosts fundraiser for Team Long Road

People who made any type of donation to Long Road were given an all you can eat crawfish and shrimp boil.

MIDLAND, Texas — As people around the country honor the fallen service members this Memorial Day, the American Legion Post 19 in Midland held a fundraiser for Long Road, a charity that supports gold star families. Those are families that lost a loved one who died in service to the nation.

People with any type of donation were welcomed to an all you can eat crawfish and shrimp boil from the American Legion Post 19.

The service officer with the American Legion Post 19 told NewsWest 9 the importance of helping our fallen service members.

"Today is a day of remembrance for the men and women who have lost their lives and given the ultimate sacrifice. so today is the day where, where we gather to remember them to celebrate their lives and to honor their sacrifice," said Tina Grace, service member for American Legion Post 19.

The Long Road charity was created by two veterans who travel cross country. They say their mission is to help continue to serve and make sure every veteran returns home.
