Early signing period: Midland Legacy's Marcos Davila signs with the Purdue Boilermakers

Midland Legacy Quarterback Marcos Davila decided to take his football talent to the college level at Purdue.

MIDLAND, Texas — Former Midland Legacy Quarterback and Four-star Prospect Marcos Davila has signed his letter of intent to play college football for the Purdue Boilermakers.

Davila started for three years for the Rebels, a first at the quarterback position for Head Coach Clint Hartman, and never missed a game as the starter for LHS.

Davila helped lead the Rebels to three straight district titles as the starter, including outright championships in 2021 and 2023.

Davila re-wrote the Legacy passing statistics record book, and now leads Legacy High School all time in career passing yards and passing touchdowns. He threw for over 9,000 yards in his Legacy High career and accounted for nearly 100 touchdowns.

He also served as a senior captain on the 2023 team that made history in the second round of the UIL playoffs, taking down the Euless Trinity Trojans 57-55 in multiple overtimes to advance to the third round.

Davila originally committed to TCU in December of 2022, but decommitted after an offensive coordinator change and eventually flipping to Purdue in March 2023.

The Boilermakers went 4-8 in Ryan Walters' first season as the head coach in 2023, and are seeing the Big Ten Conference expand around them. The Big Ten will expand to 18 teams, as UCLA, USC, Washington and Oregon will join the conference in 2024.

Davila will be tutored and developed under Offensive Coordinator Graham Harrell, a former Texas Tech quarterback in the mid to late 2000s, who played for the famous Mike Leach. Harrell has helped bring the Air Raid to Purdue University, and Davila credits both Walters and Harrell for making it feel like home.

Davila will enroll early at Purdue, helping him get a jump start on learning the playbook and allowing him to compete in Spring football.
