MIDLAND, Texas — The Library at the Plaza building will be closed from Feb. 26 to March 4 while it undergoes some changes.
According to Eddie Melendez, the director of facilities for Midland County, crews are working to improve the heating and cooling system for the more than 50-year-old building.
"The changes will be better as far as the infrastructure," Melendez said. "[It will] make sure the cooling and heating are more available year-round. Not just for the employees, but for the public as well."
On Feb. 26, the Midland County Commissioners Court voted in favor of paying Library at the Plaza employees who would be affected by the library's closure.
Melendez said this project has been in the works for quite some time now.
"This is a project we planned for the last two years," Melendez said. "We took it to budget, it was approved and now with all the parts coming in we are starting the job."
